Missouri’s Republican supermajority steamrolled harmful legislation before Spring break—ignoring voters, weakening public education, and prioritizing millionaires and corporations over working families.
HB567: Cass County Rep. Sherri Gallick (Dist. 62) led the charge to override the will of 57% of voters who supported Prop A, blocking paid sick leave because it’s "too inconvenient" for corporations. Reps. Irwin (Dist. 55) and Davis (Dist. 56) backed her, choosing big business over their own constituents.
SB4: All three Cass County Republicans voted to repeal consumer protections, giving utility companies the green light to raise rates for 10 years to cover building costs—long before customers see any benefits.
HB798: They voted to eliminate the Working Family Tax Credit, funnel more money to crisis pregnancy centers, and—no surprise—cut corporate taxes, taking money from low- and middle-income families to pad the pockets of the wealthy.
HB711: In a rare break, Gallick appears to understand that the open enrollment bill that passed the House, will drain funding from rural schools and hurt small communities, the backbone of her district’s economy. Davis and Irwin voted with their fellow Republicans.
The pattern is clear: Corporations Win, Working People Lose!
