Cass County is the 10th largest county in Missouri — and we continue to grow. That growth isn’t slowing down. But our county government hasn’t kept pace.

Cass County hasn’t elected a Democrat since 2014. Currently, Democrats hold zero elected positions in county government. Zero.

That does not reflect the people who live here — and it shows.

With no political balance in county government, there is no meaningful oversight. No accountability. No transparency.

Meetings are held during the workday when most residents cannot attend.
Meetings are canceled with notices taped to courthouse doors.

It’s 2026. That’s unacceptable.

Public meetings should be accessible. Growth should be managed responsibly. County government should work for the people — not operate behind closed doors.

February 24 at 8:00 a.m.

Filing closes:
March 31 at 5:00 p.m.

Offices on the Ballot (November Election)

In addition to Presiding County Commissioner, the following offices are up for election:

• Collector
• Recorder of Deeds
• Auditor
• Circuit Clerk
• County Clerk
• Prosecuting Attorney
• Associate Circuit Judge – Districts 5, 6, and 7

Most of these are managerial roles, as the offices are fully staffed and oversee professional teams.

All offices:

• Serve four-year terms beginning January 1, 2027
• Are partisan
• Are elected county-at-large
• Require a $100 filing fee
• Require candidates to bring a valid ID and completed Form DOR 5120 when filing

General Qualifications for All County Offices

• Citizen of the United States
• Resident of Missouri for 1 year preceding the election
• Registered Missouri voter
• Not delinquent on state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, or real property taxes on residence
• Not a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes taxes to the state
• No felony conviction under federal law
• No felony conviction under Missouri law (or an equivalent felony in another state)

Office-Specific Qualifications

Presiding Commissioner

• Resident of the county

Clerk of the Circuit Court

• Resident of the county for 3 months preceding the election
• Over 21 years of age

Recorder of Deeds

• 21 years old
• Registered voter
• Resident of the county 1 year preceding the election
• affidavit of bonding for $5000 if elected

County Auditor

• 21 years old and a United States citizen
• Resident of Missouri for 1 year and the county for 3 months preceding election
• Familiar with the theory and practice of accounting by education, training, and experience

Collector

• 21 years old
• Resident of the county for at least 1 year before filing
• Must present to the county clerk a signed affidavit from a surety company authorized to do business in Missouri stating the candidate meets statutory bond requirements
• affidavit of bonding for $750,000 if elected

County Clerk

• Over 21 years old
• Resident of the county for 1 year preceding the election

Prosecuting Attorney

• At least 21 years of age
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri
• Resident of the county 1 year preceding the election

Associate Circuit Judge (Districts 5, 6, 7)

• At least 25 years old
• Qualified Missouri voter
• Resident of the county for at least 1 year before the election
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri
