What Can You Do Now? Run for Office!

Run for office!

Municipal Elections are coming up on April 7, 2026, and filing opens December 9–30 — that’s next month!

These races may be officially non-partisan, but we all know our values shape our communities. That’s why it’s essential to have Democrats at every table — city councils, school boards, county boards — every seat matters. With current and future funding cuts on the horizon, our kids and our communities need courageous people who are ready to lead, advocate, and protect what matters most - the people!
If running for office speaks to you even a little, now is the time to explore it. And if it’s not your path, share this with someone who would make a great candidate!

Let’s step up, support each other, and build the future we deserve.

More Petition Signing Opportunities

Want to resist government overreach? Here’s your chance!

People NOT Politicians is fighting to stop the unfair redistricting in Missouri and let the people — not politicians decide if we want new maps.

The Respect MO Voters campaign aims to end the Missouri legislature overturning our votes, protect our petition process, and eliminate misleading ballot language.

Add your signature to these petitions and help put power back where it belongs: with the people of Missouri.

Sign the Petitions!

There will be an opportunity to sign both the Respect MO Voters and People NOT Politicians petitions in Raymore on Saturday, October 25th.

✍️ Respect Missouri Voters

  • Stop politicians from overturning voter decisions
  • Protect our right to citizen initiatives
  • End misleading ballot language
🗳 People NOT Politicians
  • Missouri Senate Republicans passed an illegal gerrymander
  • 106K+ signatures
  • Fair maps. Fair votes.

Oct Cass Dems Meeting

Join us on Thursday, October 23rd!
Following a brief committee meeting, there will be important updates on our upcoming petition-signing event and opportunities for running for office.

Filing opens in December for municipal races (school board, council, alderman, county boards) and in February for county and statewide offices. Electing Democrats is how we can change the course of our county and state, and it starts with us!
We’re especially excited to welcome our guest speaker, Missouri State Representative Kemp Strickler!
Kemp was born in Harrisonville, grew up in Kansas City, and has lived in Lee's Summit for the last four decades. After a long career at Hallmark Cards, Kemp ran for office in 2022 and flipped the red 34th District House seat blue by 42 votes. His success shows us that when neighbors talk to neighbors and show up for one another, we can flip any district and Cass County, too!

September Cass Dems Meeting

We'll have exciting candidate info and both petitions for you to sign!
See you Thursday night (Sept. 25th)

July 2025 Meeting

URGENT UPDATE - Due to the storms in North Cass tonight, the Central Committee will NOT be meeting. The Western MO Rural Democrats will still be meeting at 6:00pm at the Harrisonville Library. Please join them if you'd like, and be safe.

We're heading to Harrisonville Thursday night, July 24th, for our monthly meeting at the Harrisonville Library. We'll have a short committee meeting at 6:00 pm, followed by REACH training. The Western MO Rural Democrats will have an organizational meeting beginning at 6:30 pm.

What's REACH Training? Cass County has been chosen as one of 3 counties in the state of Missouri to test drive this app for the Missouri Democratic Party (MDP)!

The REACH app allows us to:

-Communicate easily with each other
-Send texts to friends and family
-Share social media and event info
-Even register new voters! 🗳️

Remember the Fallen

We honor every service member who gave their life in combat or from the wounds they carried home.

Freedom has never been free. And for too many, the cost continues long after the war ends. Every veteran lost to suicide is a national tragedy — one we have the power and obligation to prevent.

Republicans in Washington are cutting critical services at a time when veterans need more support. That’s not how we honor sacrifice.

If we truly want to honor those we’ve lost, we must fight for the living.
